Bad Budget Deal Rally

California Legislators were preparing to vote on a budget agreement that has deep cuts and a budget cap that will make the cuts permanent without public review on February 13th, 2009. Independent Living Services of Northern California mobilized five Hmong community leaders to attend the Bad Budget Deal rally at the State Capitol. We demanded our legislators hold a budget hearing with public review. We asked our legislators to block the budget cap, stop more cuts to SSI/SSP, IHSS, and Medi-Cal programs. We took action to stop legislators from working on a deal that will destroy all of them with deep cuts – and then making those cuts permanent with a budget cap.
